This is a picture we took to recreate a scene from the novel Holes. In this scene, while digging their daily holes, Stanley and Zero find a mysterious gold lipstick container with the initials K.B inscribed on the side. Though to anyone else what the boys found might just be old junk, but that little piece of junk caused a huge mess for them and everyone else around them.
I first read this book in grade 6. I loved it and I have read it countless times since. I've read and loved too many books to choose my favorite but Holes is definitely a book that stands out to me. It is filled with adventure, irony and has many twists and turns. The story line is unique and different from anything else. The story begins when a boy named Stanley Yelnats gets caught at the wrong place at the wrong time (all thanks to his "no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather") and is faced with the choice of either being sent to jail or spending a few months at Camp Green Lake. Without knowing it's history, Camp Green Lake may sound like a wonderful place to go, but in actuality, jail would have been the better choice for Stanley.
